GENERAL MANUFACTURING PROCEDURE FOR FOODFORM HIGH MINERAL YEASTS AND YOGURTS & FOODFORM VITAMINS.
High Mineral Yeasts
To an appropriate stainless steel vat containing a pre-measured amount of water, a known quantity of Saccharomyces cervisiae (bakers yeast) is added with agitation at 32±3° C. A nutrition medium containing water, complex carbohydrates and proteins is prepared in a second stainless steel vat. The appropriate mineral salt is added to the nutrition medium with stirring.
After a predetermined time, the nutrition medium is fed to the active and growing yeast at a predetermined rate with constant aeration and stirring. At the end of the growth and digestion period, which may range from 24 to 48 hours, aeration is discontinued. At this stage proteolytic enzymes are added to break the cell walls of the yeast. In some instances, depending on certain minerals, insoluble cell walls are removed. IR spectrum of the sample is determined and compared to that of the authentic Foodform sample.
The liquid product is spray dried and then subjected to vigorous QC/QA procedures. The finished product is also examined for microbiological purity.
Approximately every fifteen minutes during the growth period (depending on the nutrient), an aliquot (representative sample) is removed and analyzed by appropriate methods to determine the progress of the process. This analysis examines (1) whether any mineral salt remains, (2) if the carrier food-factors have penetrated through the yeast cell walls, (3) if complete complexation of the mineral salt and yeast has occurred and (4) if all the cell walls have been digested by the enzymes.
High Mineral Yogurt
The process for producing high mineral yogurt is similar to that of the high mineral yeasts except there is no use of proteolytic enzymes.
Vitamins
Under controlled conditions, the USP vitamin is re-liquified in a glass-lined vat and complexed with specific peptide/protein carriers. In a second glass-lined vat, a specific solution of water and vegetable or yeast extract is prepared. At a predetermined rate, ratio and temperature, the vitamin solution is added to the second glass-lined vat under constant stirring. The reaction time, depending on the vitamin, ranges from 8-16 hours. IR spectrum of the sample is determined and compared to that of the authentic Foodform sample.
At this stage, the liquid product is spray dried. The finished product is then subjected to vigorous QC/OA procedures. The finished product is also examined for microbiological purity. Studies source FOODFORM® VITAMINS AND MINERALS
MAY BE BETTER ABSORBED, RETAINED AND UTILIZED
THAN ISOLATED USP NUTRIENTS.
FOODFORM® "may represent a significant improvement in bio-availability and tissue retention of specific nutrients. The clinical implication of these observations could be of significance in facili-tating proper nutrient utilization in individuals who suffer from a variety of nutrient malabsorption problems or who require optimal potentiation or nutrient availability." A New Nutrient Bio-availability Innovation-report on FOODFORM® Vitamins and Minerals by HealthComm, Inc., Jeffery S. Bland, Ph. D., Director.
Over 60 studies compared FOODFORM® to USP vitamins and minerals in four main ways: absorption, retention, utilization and toxicity. Studies were performed by independent researchers at New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Scranton and other institutions.
The term "absorption" (or bioavailability) refers to how efficiently the vitamin or mineral is absorbed into the blood. The results are expressed as the relative increase over baseline in the amount of the vitamin or mineral in the blood. The term "retention" refers to the relative increase in the amount of the vitamin or mineral that is stored in the liver. Utilization studies examine a known function of the vitamin or mineral to see if FOODFORM® nutrients perform that job better.
Many of the studies on FOODFORM® vitamins and minerals have been published in prestigious scientific and medical journals such as Diabetes (the journal of the American Diabetes Association) and The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Here are examples of the study results:
In human studies at 2 hours the % increase of vitamin C in the blood was 5 times greater for FOOFORM® C than for asorbic acid. At 12 hours. FOODFORM® C was 18 times greater. In retention studies, FOODFORM® Niacin was 3.9 times more absorbed and 70% more retained.
In human studies, at 2 hours FOODFORM® B-12 was 1.9 times more absorbed in a few hours 66% more after 24 hours. In retention studies, FOODFORM® B-12 was 256% more absorbed and 60% more retained.
In human studies at 2 hours FOODFORM® Vitamin E was 6 times more absorbed than USP. In retention studies FOODFORM® E was 2.6 times more retained.
In a six week study, two groups of baby mammals were depleted and then supplemented with equal potencies of FOODFORM® and USP vitamins and minerals. The USP group had poor growth and a rapid decline in health. The FOODFORM® group had normal, healthy growth rates for baby animals.
IntraCell Nutrition has published a technical bulletin (#S13) which presents the results of many individual vitamins and minerals studies on human and animal subjects. The reference for each study is given, including where the studies have been presented and/or published.
